BELOVED

A Support Group for Grieving Parents

A place for parents who understand.

Each star a name we carry.

Welcome

You found the right place.

Welcome to Beloved. If you are here, we already know something about you that no one should ever have to know. You found the right place.

We created this group because we are one of you. We know how exhausting it is to be around people who love you but just don't understand. Here, you don't have to explain yourself.

What is shared here stays here. There is no pressure to share, and no timeline for grief — you are welcome whether your loss is recent or many years ago.

Who This Space Is For

A space held just for parents.

For parents

Beloved is specifically for parents who have lost a child. We hope to create spaces for siblings and grandparents as we grow — but this group is held just for us.

Non-denominational

You don't need any particular faith or background to belong. All beliefs — and all the ways parents find comfort in their child — are welcome here.

Parents, not professionals

We are parents, not counselors or therapists — here to listen and remind each other we don't carry this alone. For professional help, see our resources.

Protecting Our Community

Please help us keep this space safe.

These conversations exist to support healing and honor our children. To protect this space for every parent, we ask everyone to honor a few things:

  • What is shared here stays here.
  • Be kind and respectful.
  • No soliciting or self-promotion.
  • No judging, preaching, or divisive debates.

This is a space for parents only, and membership is reviewed by our admins. We gently ask siblings, grandparents, and other loved ones to hold off for now.

In-Person Meetings

We meet in Victoria, together.

We gather in the Victoria & Crossroads area. No pressure to share — come simply to listen and be present.

Right now we meet in person in Victoria and stay connected between meetings in our private Facebook group. We hope to add a Zoom option in the future, so no one is left out.

Grief, I've come to learn, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with nowhere to go.

How to Support a Grieving Parent

Support isn't fixing someone's pain; it's sitting with them in it. Keep checking in long after the services end.

What to say & do

  • Listen without trying to fix. Let them cry, rage, or stay silent.
  • Speak their child's name. "I'm missing [Name] today."
  • Remember important dates. Birthdays and anniversaries matter.
  • Offer concrete help. "I'm bringing dinner Thursday," not "let me know if you need anything."

What to avoid saying

  • "At least…" statements minimize an irreplaceable child.
  • Platitudes like "they're in a better place" can feel dismissive.
  • "I know how you feel." Every parent's grief is distinct.
  • Setting timelines. There's no expiration date for missing someone.

Request to Join

We're honored you're here.

Beloved lives in a private Facebook group. Because it's a protected space for parents, we review each request before adding you. Share a little about yourself and an admin — Joe Friar, Adrianna Flores, or Toni Marek — will approve your request or reach out. You're also always welcome to introduce yourself in person at a meeting.
